Mr. Stein is an Adjunct Professor at New York University. Since 1989 he has taught the course “Law and the Music Industry” to students enrolled in the Music and Technology Masters Degree Program. The course focuses on the structure and negotiation of contracts and agreements within the music industry, including recording and production contracts, publishing and sub-publishing agreements and management contracts

The course is offered one evening each week during the fall semester. Each two and one-half hour class taught by Mr. Stein is generally divided into two parts: a lecture by Mr. Stein and a guest speaker. Guest speakers have included presidents of major record and publishing companies and other influential and experienced members of the music industry.
